These two hydrogen production units will bring significant reduction in GHG emissions as they are designed to replace the coal-based gasification system and will be equipped with CO2 capture and recycle technology. These two units will have a total hydrogen production capacity of around 70,000 Nm3/h, which will be equipped to capture and recycle carbon dioxide to contribute to the production of carbon monoxide for a total capacity of 28,000 Nm3/h. Through more than 15 year-long contracts, these two units will supply hydrogen to Covestro China and Shanghai Lianheng Isocyanate Company (SLIC, a joint venture led by BASF and Huntsman) in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
It will help China to transition away from coal-based hydrogen production and drastically reduce GHG emissions which is in line with China’s strategic deployment.
