Air Liquide will build hydrogen production plants in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park

These two hydrogen production units will bring significant reduction in GHG emissions as they are designed to replace the coal-based gasification system and will be equipped with CO2 capture and recycle technology. These two units will have a total hydrogen production capacity of around 70,000 Nm3/h, which will be equipped with capture and recycle carbon dioxide to contribute to the production of carbon monoxide for a total capacity of 28,000 Nm3/h. Through more than 15 year-long contracts, these two units will supply hydrogen to Covestro China and Shanghai Lianheng Isocyanate Company (SLIC, a joint venture led by BASF and Huntsman) in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park.
It will help China to transition away from coal-based hydrogen production and drastically reduce GHG emissions that is in line with the China’s strategic deployment.
