A sizable research funding has been awarded to the biotech business Ryne Bio to advance the development of their Parkinson’s late-stage preclinical cell transplantation method.

The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) is a significant funding source for stem cell therapy research. The institute has so far contributed more than USD 59 million to Parkinson’s projects, and this week they revealed to fund $4 million to a lab-based study with Ryne Bio to advance their dopamine-producing-cell replacement therapy for Parkinson’s into the clinic. The company anticipates that the outcomes of this recently funded investigation would be sufficient to seek permission from the USFDA to launch clinical trials in Parkinson’s patients.
