The septum cap packaging protects the solvent from hydrolysis and oxidation, thereby ensuring dryness of the solvent produced by distillation methods. Basically, the septum cap packaging provides multi-layer protection to the solvent. It comprises multi-layer septa consisting of an inner PTFE layer and an outer butyl rubber layer. The inner PTFE layer is in contact with the solvent or reagent is inert. Thus, the solvent does not get contaminated by the septum material. Besides ensuring the moisture and air-free environment for the chemical solvent, septum-cap packaging has an improved mechanical performance, a feature attributed to its increased thickness. Septum cap packaging allows any needle-punctures without compromising on any chemical property of the solvent contained in the bottle. The outer butylated rubber layer re-seals around the needle punctures.
