QatarEnergy has awarded the contract for its industrial cities solar power project (IC Solar) to South Korea’s Samsung C&T. This project includes 2 large scale photovoltaic solar power plants, which is expected to start electricity production by the end of 2024. IC Solar project is a huge step to diversify Qatar’s energy resources and to increase the reliance on high-efficiency renewable energy. The project will utilize high-efficiency bifacial modules along with cleaning robots that will operate daily to minimize energy losses due to soiling by removing dust from the PV modules.
Solar energy is one of the primary renewable sources to provide sustainable, affordable, and clean energy. With ever increasing demand for energy, while world is looking towards low-cost clean energy solutions, the solar power plants could have the ideal potential to provide on-demand energy solution with reduced carbon emission.
