Essar’s Ultra Gas & Energy Ltd (UGEL) plans to invest Rs. 900 crore to expand its LNG (liquefied natural gas) network for freight carriers across India. The company currently operates six LNG refuelling stations in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. Now, it is aiming toscale up its network to 100 outlets nationwide, providing cleaner fuel access along key freight corridors. Each LNG station can handle 50 tonnes and refuel up to 600 trucks per month. Collectively, these outlets will reduce CO₂ emissions by over one million tonnes annually, actively driving India’s shift from diesel to cleaner alternatives.
To ensure smooth operations and consistent fuel availability, UGEL has partnered with IOCL, GAIL, HPCL, and other leading LNG suppliers. These partnerships provide access to all major LNG terminals across India, supporting uninterrupted supply and scalability.
Each UGEL outlet is also future-ready, equipped with the infrastructure to support EV charging, aligning with the company’s long-term plan to build multi-fuel, low-emission mobility solutions for the logistics sector.
UGEL’s expansion represents more than just network growth—it’s a strategic step toward transforming India’s freight ecosystem. The company integrates LNG and EV-ready infrastructure, building a sustainable transport blueprint that serves both industry needs and environmental goals.
