Turmeric can suppress the side effects associated with Breast Cancer treatment

Researchers from UC Davis, with the support of Safeway Foundation, decided to test if turmeric, in combination with oral anti-estrogen drugs, can mitigate the adverse effects of breast cancer treatment, such as joint pain, and explore whether it improves the quality of a patient’s life.
About 70% of breast cancers diagnosed are hormonally driven, and treatment includes oral drugs to block estrogen. However, the drugs can cause joint pain, which is why many women do not stay on the medication—putting them at risk of breast cancer recurrence.
Turmeric, a flowering plant in the ginger family, is used by some arthritis sufferers who say it reduces their joint pain. Hence, using the natural painkiller to reduce the joint pain associated with breast cancer is expected to go above and beyond to help patients.
